Noun Hope, to anticipate (usually with pleasure/eagerness), expectation and confidence. Thus, more than wishful thinking, this word refers to a certain outlook.

This word is part of the Pauline triad, which regularly appear in Paul's letters. The other two words are love and faith. The triad is found in1:

  • Romans 5:2-5
  • 1 Corinthians 13:13
  • Galatians 5:5
  • Colossians 1:4-5
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:3
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:8

Additionally, the triad is also found in Hebrews 6:10-12, Hebrews 10:22-24, 1 Peter 1:3-8 and 1 Peter 1:21-22.
