It's hard to believe, but 2009 is already finalised and wrapped up, and soon it will be put in storage along with all those other years past. But that process always has a flip side: planning and looking forward to the next year. In the week past, St Paul's and TBT launched their theme for 2010: Amazing Grace (a.k.a. "Putting 'Amazing' Back into Grace").
It's a big theme, as well as an important. It is important to periodically think about things like grace, justice, righteousness etc. When tend to develop a "feel" for a word (think about how difficult it can be to try and come up with a dictionary definition for a word, yet we know the word well instinctively). We can then use it in our stride, without thinking about it. But when it comes to grace, for example, we'll do well to remind ourselves of what that actually means: to not become complacent with such concepts. It might even be a good idea to challenge your own view of such concepts and hold what you believe up to the Bible. You are never too late for a new realisation, a new take on an old concept.
So that is the plan at TBT for the next year. This year has been great and, if it is anything to go on, I'm super excited for next year!
Shabbat Shalom
